Moon

Moon governs emotional nature — what you need to feel safe. It spends about 2.1 days in each sign and takes 0.1 years to go round the zodiac, so its sign changes fast enough to differ between people born days apart.

A question with a definite answer

The moon is never retrograde

Not rarely — never, and not as a matter of tradition. Retrograde motion is what you see when Earth overtakes a planet on the inside of the track, or is overtaken: the other body appears to slide backwards against the stars for a while. Neither the sun nor the moon is in that relationship with us.

The sun does not move against the background at all in the relevant sense — its apparent motion is our orbit. The moon circles Earth directly, always in the same direction, roughly 13° a day. So any chart or app showing either as retrograde has a bug, and any reading built on one is describing something that cannot occur.

Of the ten bodies on this site, exactly two are in this position. The other eight all turn back at intervals set by their orbits. Which planets are retrograde now →
