A reference for astrology, numerology and divination that shows its arithmetic
and labels its sources — including where the tradition ends and the math begins.
What this site does differently
Most esoteric sites give you a paragraph and no way to check it. AstroHot was built
the other way around: every reading is generated from a calculation, and the
calculation is printed next to the result. If a page tells you your Sun sits at
18°42′ Leo, the sums that produced that figure are on the same screen.
That means you can disagree with us. A birth chart is arithmetic — positions of
bodies at a moment in time — and arithmetic is verifiable. What those positions
mean is tradition, and tradition is not verifiable. We keep the two apart
and say which is which.
Who builds it
AstroHot is built by Denis Kataev, a software developer
rather than an astrologer. He wrote the calculators and the checks behind them; the
interpretations come from the published sources named on each page.
Where the numbers come from
The formulas themselves — solar longitude, lunar phase, the ascendant, the timing of
sign changes to the minute — are published in full on the
methodology page, together with the accuracy we claim for
each and the sources behind every traditional meaning. The short version:
Astronomical positions
In the chart calculators, the Sun, the Moon and the planets for 1900 to 2030 come from
NASA JPL’s DE440 ephemeris, accurate to about an arcsecond; outside those years, from
JPL orbital elements corrected for precession. The
dates and times of events — stations, sign changes, phases and eclipses from 1900
to 2050 — come from NASA JPL’s DE440 ephemeris, checked against Swiss Ephemeris,
which is why our sign boundaries are given to the minute rather than as a fixed
calendar date.
Statistical claims
Where a page says something is rare or common — a Life Path distribution, or the
arcana that never sit at the center of a Destiny Matrix — that figure was produced
by enumerating every date in the stated range, not quoted from another site.
Births by day and sign come from US Social Security data for 2000–2014. The range
is always printed.
Traditional meanings
Interpretations are attributed to their actual origin — Golden Dawn
correspondences of 1888 for tarot, the Chaldean and Pythagorean letter
tables for numerology, published dream-content research where prevalence
figures are given. Where schools disagree, we say so instead of picking one
silently.
Where the numbers come from, and the years each source covers
The dashed line is today. A figure is only as good as the years behind it, so every page that quotes one of these numbers prints its range next to it.
What we will not claim
There is no known mechanism by which the position of a planet at your birth could
determine your character, and no evidence that it does. We do not pretend otherwise,
and we do not dress the material up with fake credentials or invented ancient
pedigrees. The Destiny Matrix, for instance, was assembled in the 2010s — we say that
on the page, even though it sells better without the sentence.
Nothing here is medical, legal, financial or psychological advice. See the
disclaimer for the plain version.
How the site is funded
AstroHot is free and requires no account. It is paid for by advertising. We do not
sell readings, do not run a psychic hotline, and do not pass your birth date to
anyone — it is used to render the page you requested and then discarded. The
privacy policy sets that out formally.
Where AstroHot publishes
The same readings go out as short videos and cards every day. These are the only
accounts that belong to us — anything else using the name is not ours.
If a calculation is wrong, we want to know — that is the one kind of error on a site
like this that is genuinely fixable. Write to us via the
contact page with the date you entered and the figure you
expected, and we will check the working.
How we choose sources, check every statement of fact and handle corrections is set out in full
in our editorial policy.
Start with your own chart
The fastest way to see what we mean is to run one and read the working.
