Every aspect has a base rate
An aspect is an angle with a tolerance called an orb, so the chance of hitting it at random is simply the size of the window divided by the circle: two times the orb over 360 degrees. Conjunctions and oppositions have one window, the rest have two.

A square lands in 8.89% of random pairings — roughly one couple in eleven, with no meaning attached. A synastry comparison looks at dozens of planet pairs, so finding several aspects is the expected outcome, not a signal. That does not make the readings worthless; it means the interesting question is which aspects are tight rather than which exist.
Why a third of these describe your age, not your relationship
Everyone born inside a twenty-year window has Pluto in the same sign. So if your synastry shows Venus square Pluto, that configuration was fixed by the years you were both born in — it is a statement about the age gap, and it is shared with millions of other pairings with the same spacing.
Aspects between fast movers are different: the Moon changes sign every two and a half days, the Ascendant every two hours. Those are genuinely specific to two charts, and they are the ones worth weight.
