Leave the time blank and we assume midday — the result will tell you if that assumption changes the answer.

Why the moon sign is the one people believe

Ask around and you will hear the same thing repeatedly: “my moon sign fits better than my Sun sign”. There is a mundane reason for that, and it is worth knowing before you take it as evidence. Sun signs are public — you have heard yours described a thousand times and you have already rejected the parts that do not fit. Your moon sign description arrives fresh, and fresh descriptions land harder.

That does not make the placement uninteresting. It makes it a better prompt, because you have not built defences against it yet.

The arithmetic of a moon sign

The Moon completes a circuit of the zodiac in 27.32 days — the sidereal month — which is 13.2° per day, or about 55 hours per sign. That figure explains almost everything about this placement: why it is uncertain when a birth time is missing, why it changes so much between siblings born days apart, and why it does not vary by more than a sign among people born in the same week.

It also explains why the Moon is not exactly regular. Its orbit is elliptical and perturbed by the Sun, so a sign can take anywhere from about 48 to 62 hours. Sites that print a flat “2.5 days per sign” are averaging, and the average is wrong in most individual cases. The window above is computed for your date specifically.
