What the Twelfth House covers

The twelfth house, just above the ascendant, covers what is hidden, withdrawn or undone: solitude, retreat, the unconscious, secret matters, self-undoing and — in older texts — hidden enemies, confinement and hospitals. Hellenistic astrologers called it the Bad Spirit and gave it to Saturn. Modern practice also reads it as the house of rest, spiritual life and work behind the scenes, where things end before a new cycle begins.
