Knowledge that has not surfaced yet. The card counsels waiting and listening rather than acting — something is still forming below the level of speech.
The High Priestess is what you know without being told: intuition, hidden information and the part of a situation that is not yet visible. She sits between two pillars with a scroll half-hidden in her lap, and the card asks you to be patient, listen inward and not force answers.
Ignored intuition, or secrets kept past the point of usefulness. Disconnection from your own inner signal.
Reversed, intuition is ignored or drowned out, or secrets are being kept — by you or from you. It can also mean withdrawing too far into your own head, or trusting a feeling that is really anxiety.
