The Fool upright

A start made without a full plan. The Fool describes the moment before experience arrives — open, unguarded and willing to look ridiculous.

The Fool is the leap before you know where you will land: a new job, a move, a relationship or an idea you start without a full plan. It describes openness, curiosity and trust in the process, and the freedom of not yet being weighed down by experience. The risk is real — the cliff edge is in the picture — but the card says the moment is right to begin.

The Fool reversed

Recklessness, or its opposite: refusing to move at all. Either the leap is being made blindly, or fear has been dressed up as caution.

Reversed, the leap becomes recklessness or hesitation. Either you are about to jump without looking at obvious risks, or you are standing at the edge so long that the opportunity passes. It can also point to naivety that someone else is taking advantage of.
