Major arcana 3 · Earth
Growth that is already underway and needs tending rather than forcing. Fertility in every sense — projects, bodies, relationships.
Smothering, or creative block. Care given until it becomes control, or a well that has been drawn from without refilling.
The major arcana run 0 to 21 as a progression — the Fool's journey from unguarded beginning to completed cycle. Card 3 falls in the first stretch, which deals with the outer world and the tools for meeting it.
Data, not interpretation
The astrological attribution is not a modern invention. The Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn fixed it in their Book T in 1888, assigning every major arcana to a planet, element or sign, and every numbered minor to a ten-degree decan of the zodiac. Waite and Colman Smith built their 1909 deck on that framework, which is why the correspondences still hold today.
The card-of-the-day figures are exact, not estimated. Our daily draw is derived from the date rather than randomised per visitor, so the whole year can be computed in advance — something no site with a random draw can tell you.

The image
A crowned woman reclines on cushions in a field of ripe wheat, a shield with the symbol of Venus beside her, a forest and waterfall behind. She is visibly pregnant.
Every detail in the Waite-Smith deck was placed deliberately by Pamela Colman Smith in 1909, and reading the picture usually gets you further than reading a keyword list. Notice what the figure is doing, where they are looking, and what is behind them.
Warmth, fertility and abundance. A relationship that nourishes rather than drains.
Creative work bearing fruit. A project entering its growth phase.
Fertility, physical wellbeing, and the case for rest and good food.
A card means different things by position. In a past-present-future layout, The Empress in the past describes something already worked through; in the future it describes a direction rather than a fixed outcome.
Read it against its neighbours rather than alone. Two cards from the same suit intensify each other; a major arcana beside a minor tells you the situation is larger than the everyday.
