Death is not about dying and never was — it is the card of a state that has finished being useful. Pluto rules it, so the ending is rarely negotiated: something is removed and the space it occupied stays empty for a while. In a matrix it lands most often on the paternal line, which is where inherited endings sit — a trade, a name, a way of doing things that stops with you.
Unsentimental about what is over, which is rarer and more useful than it sounds. Can close a business, a marriage or a version of themselves without months of bargaining, and is the person others call when something has to be ended cleanly. Tolerates the empty period after a decision better than most, because they expect it.
Ends things that were still working, out of impatience with the middle. Or the reverse — holds absolutely still, because if endings are this final then nothing can be started. Both look like decisiveness from outside. The tell is whether anything got built in the space that was cleared.
Needs one thing actively being dismantled and one thing actively being built. With only the first it turns corrosive; with only the second it stalls, because the card has no vocabulary for maintenance.

The line carries an interruption — a business lost, a country left, a name changed. The inheritance is not the loss but the demonstrated ability to survive one.
