A single card is a major arcana 22 times in 78, so more than one draw in four lands on a card people read as fateful. That is the deck, not the question.

The traditional yes-and-no labels are lopsided. A firm yes covers 49 of the 78 cards, a no only 17 — the darker majors such as the Tower and the Moon, the painful Swords and the two fives of loss — and a plain “maybe” is the rarest verdict of all, at 12. A random draw says yes 2.9 times as often as no, which is worth knowing before you take a yes as a sign.
