Aura colour

Red Aura

Read as physical energy, drive and appetite. A real wavelength, 620–750 nanometres.

Checked against the visible spectrum

Red is a real colour of light

Wavelength 620–750 nm
Width of the band 130 nm of the visible 370
Chakra Root — one of only 8 covered
Searched 30,150/mo · rank 10 of 31

The longest visible wavelength — beyond 750 nanometres is infrared, which we feel as heat rather than see. Fitting for the root chakra and a reading about the body, survival and force.

Light and dark red

These two are not symmetrical, and it goes the opposite way to how it looks. Dark red is the same wavelength with less light — still pure. Light red is that wavelength plus every other one, because white is all of them. The pale version is the mixed version.

Light red

Adding white light, which means adding every other wavelength alongside the 620–750 nm band. So a light red aura is, in physical terms, less purely red than the standard one — the hue is diluted, not brightened. Read as physical energy, drive and appetite held more lightly.

Dark red

The identical wavelength at lower intensity — fewer photons, same frequency. Dark red is therefore the only one of the two that is still purely red: nothing has been added to it, only removed. Read as anger held close to the surface — the strained version.

Questions about the red aura

What does a red aura mean?

Physical energy, drive and appetite. The shadow side is anger held close to the surface.

Is red a real colour of light?

Yes. It occupies 620–750 nanometres of the visible spectrum — 130 nm out of the roughly 370 the eye can see — so a single frequency of light produces it.

Which chakra is red?

The Root chakra. Only 8 of the 31 colours people search for as auras map onto a chakra at all — the system covers seven positions, not the whole palette.

How rare is a red aura?

Unanswerable — auras are not counted anywhere. What is countable is interest: 30,150 searches a month, rank 10 of 31.
