“Dreaming of a young infant is an excellent omen, as it foretells joy and gladness, good luck, and success generally. Lovers who dream such a dream may be sure of a happy and thrifty marriage. To a business man this dream predicts a new and successful enterprise.”
Felix Fontaine, The Golden Wheel Dream-Book and Fortune-Teller (New York: Dick & Fitzgerald, 1862) — read the original text. Like other American dream books of its time, Fontaine read dreams as omens and attached lottery numbers to them; under “Infant” it printed 29, 76. Today’s dream dictionaries still echo readings like this one.
