“To dream of an elephant is a very fortunate dream, for it denotes an acquirement of riches: if you are in love, it foretells a speedy marriage with your sweetheart, and many children, chiefly boys, who will distinguish themselves by their learning.”

Hindu tradition gives the elephant its strongest reading through Ganesha, the remover of obstacles, invoked at beginnings. Buddhist accounts include the white elephant in the story of the Buddha's conception, and in Thailand white elephants were royal property.
