The Golden Wheel Dream-Book, under “Music”
“To dream of hearing strains of sweet music, denotes joy and happiness. If a girl who has a lover dreams this, he will surprise her either with a splendid present, or with an invitation to go somewhere where she will be delighted and enjoy herself much.”

Like other American dream books of its time, Fontaine read dreams as omens and attached lottery numbers to them; under “Music” it printed 74, 18. Today’s dream dictionaries still echo readings like this one.
