What a dream book said in 1862

The Golden Wheel Dream-Book, under “Singing”
“To dream of singing solemn music in a choir, is a sign of the death of a young girl who is your esteemed friend or relative: to lovers, such a dream foretells the loss of sweethearts: if you imagine you are singing some lively tune by yourself, it is a sign of sorrow, though it may not be connected with any death.”

Like other American dream books of its time, Fontaine read dreams as omens and attached lottery numbers to them; under “Singing” it printed 34, 18. Today’s dream dictionaries still echo readings like this one.
