“To dream of prayer, or of joining in a prayer with others, is a sign you will ask a favor of some one who will refuse you: if you dream of hearing prayers at church, or in any public place, it shows that you will be requested to do something which you will refuse to do, and thereby make an enemy.”

Like other American dream books of its time, Fontaine read dreams as omens and attached lottery numbers to them; under “Prayer” it printed 34, 77. Today’s dream dictionaries still echo readings like this one.
