The Golden Wheel Dream-Book, under “Duck”
“To hear ducks quacking, or to see these fowls in your dream, denotes that somebody is coming to see you who is hungry, or that you will shortly have a visitor in your family who will stop to dinner.”

Like other American dream books of its time, Fontaine read dreams as omens and attached lottery numbers to them; under “Duck” it printed 73, 1. Today’s dream dictionaries still echo readings like this one.
