What to do
- Review long-term goals and plans for growth
- Study, read and reflect
- Revisit opportunities you passed over
- Check whether your optimism matches the facts
Jupiter is not retrograde right now — it is direct in Leo and turns retrograde on December 13, 2026. Jupiter retrograde covers 88 days of 2026, 24.1% of the year. It turns back once every 398.88 days, which is why the count drifts from one year to the next.

The traditional reading
Jupiter rules growth, luck, learning and belief. It is retrograde for about four months every year, so the period is ordinary rather than dramatic. Tradition reads it as growth turning inward: a time to review plans for expansion, question beliefs and develop internally rather than chase outside opportunities. Things promised earlier may arrive late.
What the other pages do not tell you
Jupiter is retrograde 88 days in 2026 — 80 of the 101 years from 1950 to 2050 have more. The most is 124 days, in 4 of those years, first in 1982; the fewest is 82, in 1953.
Jupiter's stations in 2026, in UTC, with the degree inside the sign.
Period 1 of 2 · 119 days · retreats 10.07°
Falls in Cancer, which traditionally colors it toward protection, memory and deep attachment
Period 2 of 2 · 121 days · retreats 10.03°
Falls in Leo, which traditionally colors it toward warmth, presence and the need to be seen doing it
46 retrograde periods of Jupiter between 2000 and 2050, grouped by the sign the station falls in. They spread across all twelve signs, with no more than 5 in any one.
Answered from the ephemeris, 1950–2050
Once a year, give or take: every 399 days on average, so each loop starts about 33.7 days later in the calendar than the one before. That makes 92 loops between 1950 and 2050.
120.5 days on average, from 117.5 to 123.6 days in 1950–2050. The longest of them began on February 28, 1994. Counting both shadows, the whole window averages 292.8 days, which leaves about 106 days between one window and the next.
The next Jupiter retrograde starts on December 13, 2026 at 12:57 AM UTC, at 27°01′ Leo, and ends on April 13, 2027 — 121 days.
Once: December 13, 2026 to April 13, 2027 in Leo.
Jupiter orbits outside Earth's path, so it appears to reverse around opposition — the weeks when Earth overtakes it on the inside track. Earth and Jupiter line up again every 398.88 days, and across 2016–2036 a single retrograde lasted 121 days on average. Not one of those 21 years went without one.
Tradition ties Jupiter to expansion, belief, luck and where you were overreaching, and reads its retrograde as the time to go back over them. In practice that advice applies on about one day in three. The shadow dates in the table are explained on the retrograde overview.
