Card 20 of 36 · 8♠ · social occasions
Garden
The crowd — events, reputation, and everything visible to other people.
Garden in pairs
This is where the meaning is. Garden leading means the reading is about the public; Garden following means something else is being coloured by it. Same two cards, different sentence.

burden, fate shaped by the publicReading it in a tableau
In a Grand Tableau, Garden is both a card and house 20. Whatever falls into that house is read through the public — so if Fish lands in house 20, money is being read in the context of the public.
If Garden lands in house 20 — its own house — that is usually called significant. It is worth knowing the arithmetic first: across a shuffled 36-card tableau the expected number of self-housed cards is exactly one, so this happens constantly. See the combinatorics on the main page.
Proximity is the other convention. Any two cards land adjacent 16.98% of the time by geometry alone — about one pairing in six — which is the baseline against which a meaningful-looking neighbour should be read.
